Sustainable Urban Transformation in Adana: The Çukurova Financial Center

The design process of a massive 245,000 m² urban transformation project — Adana's new center of attraction, shaped through data analytics and parametric planning methods.

The Çukurova Financial Center is one of Turkey's largest mixed-use urban transformation projects, spanning a construction area of 245,000 m² in Adana's Çukurova district. The project aims to build a bridge between the region's agricultural past and its financial future.

The design process began with the analysis of microclimatic data collected over the course of a year. Adana's hot and humid climate necessitated an envelope system equipped with breathing ceramic panels and deep shading elements, rather than conventional glass curtain-wall facades. The daylight simulations carried out revealed a facade geometry that reduces the need for artificial lighting on office floors by 40%.

Our parametric planning tools simulated thousands of scenarios to determine how the 245,000 m² area could be used most efficiently. Space Syntax analyses predicted pedestrian circulation density, enabling commercial units to be placed at the most strategic points. As a result, the project's commercial-space leasability rate reached 95%.
